One of my favourite add ons for desserts has to be the strawberry compote. It is so versatile and can be added to ice creams, cakes, pies, pancakes and waffles. It keeps well for a week in the refrigerator and is a healthier alternative to store bought syrups and add ons.
I didn't have fresh strawberries on hand, so I used frozen but they were just as good.
You could even switch the fruit with other berries, such as blueberries, raspberries etc.
You would need to re-adjust the sweetness if you use more sour fruit.
I highly recommend trying this out with pancakes and waffles.
